Q: My husband divorced me while I was menstruating so does the waiting period start from that menstruation so the I have two to go or do I still have three to go? Also, my husband said he read somewhere that talaq is invalid if it is pronounced when a woman is menstruating. Is this true?
A: The divorce is valid but it is sinful for the husband to divorce during menses because he now lengthens the wife’s iddat unnecessarily. So that menses will not be counted.
