Is the following narration suitable to quote and spread?
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “There is no Muslim who fasts and says the du’a below at the time of iftar, but that he comes out free of his sins like the day on which his mother gave birth to him.
يا عظيم يا عظيم انت الهي لا اله غيرك اغفرلي الذنب العظيم فإنه لا يغفر الذنب العظيم إلا العظيم
(Ya ‘Azimu Ya Azimu anta Ilahi la ilaha ghayruk ighrfirli adh dhambal ‘azim fa innahu la yaghfiruz dhambal ‘azima illal ‘Azim)
O the Most Great! Oh the Most Great! You are my Deity, there is no Deity other than You, forgive my great sins, for surely none can forgive great sins, except the Most Great.
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) then said, ‘Teach it to your family for verily these are words which Allah and His Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) love, and it will correct all his affairs of this world and the Hereafter.
Answer
Hafiz Ibn ‘Asakir (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu).
(Tarikh Dimashq, vol. 54 pg. 238)
However, Hafiz Ibn ‘Asakir (rahimahullah) states that the Hadith is not supported at all (شاذ بمرة) and the chain consists of unknown narrators. ‘Allamah Suyuti (rahimahullah) has cited this narration in his book on fabricated Hadiths. [The chain also consists of a narrator accused of fabricating Hadiths].
The Hadith is not suitable to quote.
(Dhaylul La-Alil Masnu’ah, vol. 2 pg. 715/716, Hadith: 882 and Tanzihush Shari’ah, vol. 2 pg. 335)
See here for other suitable du’as to recite at iftar.
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
