Speaking Between Khutba and Salaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askmufti.co.za

Q: It is known it is not permissible for a person to speak while the jummah khutbah is in progress but is it permissible for a person besides the Imaam to tell someone to come forward after the khutbah before salaah starts.

A. It will be permissible to speak, after the Khutbah and before Salaah, such things that are necessary and are linked to the Salaah like the example you mentioned. The purpose of this talk is to complete and straighten the Saffs. Sometimes the Imam himself is not aware of the condition of the back Saffs, especially when the crowd is big, so others may assist in this.

Allah Ta’aala knows best.
