Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykumwa-rahmatullāhiwa-barakātuh

We make dua Allah keep you firm and steadfast on Islam.

Brother, it is our belief that Allah is the ultimate provider of our sustenance. It is also our belief that Allah Ta’ala has already decreed our sustenance before coming into this world.

Therefore, whatever is decreed for us, we will get it in the decreed proportion, no more no less. However, we live in this world of means and Allah has put effect in means. We are told to adopt means and then place our reliance on Allah.

You state you do not work and you expressed the reasons for that. Our advice is you work even though the salary is less. This is better than not working at all in the absence of an alternative.

Working and earning an income is an act of great virtue and in fact an act of worship. If you experience discomfort at work, you can console yourself by reminding yourself that you are engaged in an act of worship. No effort and sacrifice is vain. Turn to Allah and keep on making dua to Allah to grant you brakah in your work and income. While working search for alternative means of income as well. Allah is the controller of our sustenance, not mankind. Therefore do not focus on the attitude of people, place your trust in Allah and do as much as you can.

We also advise you to read the following dua daily.

الهم اكفنا بحلالك عن حرامك واغننا بفضلك عمن سواك

: Meaning – “Oh Allah make your Halal provision sufficient for me so that I stay away from Haram and enrich me from your favors”.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
