Washing the hands and making masah of the ears in wudhu

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I wash my hands at the start of wudu, but not during washing my arms. I have been washing wrist to elbow. When wiping my ears I have only wiped the main ear entrance and the outside of the ear, not all the contours. Is my wudu invalid and if so because of my ignorance do I have to make up all these prayers?

Bismillaah

A: Your wudhu is valid. However, in the future when washing your hands till the elbows, you should commence from the fingers till the elbows (including the elbows). Similarly when making masah of the ears, you should make masah of the inner portion of the ears in accordance to the Sunnah method of masah. For the Sunnah method refer to http://ihyaauddeen.co.za/?p=2835/#ref4

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
