Multiple personality disorder from our understanding is a neurotic disorder – from recent clinical studies ? change in identities / disassociation may often be closely related to a mechanism for banishing unpleasant, painful and anxiety provoking mental contents from consciousness.
Its treatment often ? first recommends ? addressing possible traumas like sexual abuse, other major aggressive abuse or situations. Therapy ? family therapy, support, sometimes a change in environment (job, home, etc.) and a supportive Aalim and physician. With therapy and support, one may help remove the amnestic barriers between the various personalities to come to a more healthy and adaptive frame of mind and facilities resolution of the client’s problem.
Jiins, etc. can be assessed by a realiable Aamil and treatment followed accordingly.
Note: Techniques of treatment may differ with persons having MPD ? hence, treatment should be on individual basis. Du’aas and guidance from a spiritual Deeni pious Aalim / mentor has also proven beneficial. May Allah Ta’ala grant spiritual and physical cure.
