In my past I had a girlfriend and had a child out of wedlock. We separated and since I embraced Islam. Do I have responsiblities to the child?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org
Answer

As the biological father, you should endeavour to convert the mother of your
child to Islam so that she raises the child Islamically. Alternatively, you
apply wisdom and diplomacy to attain custody of the child so that the child
be under your Islamic supervision.
