I would like to ask for a fatwa on the issue of reciting naats/hamds in the style of a song, but without music.

Answer

In principle, singing some songs is only permissible at the time of celebrations or at the time of hardship to make oneself happy. To sing and listen to songs which imitate the style of a Haraam song or to sing as a profession will not be permissible. (Dars-e-Tirmidhi vol.3 pg.261)

Even reading Qur’aan and singing praises of Nabi (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) in the tune of a song will not be permissible.
