Are new methods of surgery imitation of kuffar?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

AOA, I know imitating kuffar is not allowed in Islam. I am a doctor in a Muslim country. Recently I saw a non Muslim doctor telling about a procedure he “invented” to have a better surgery on a patient. Now if I copy that method and apply it on my Muslim patients to make surgery better, will that come under heading of imitating kuffar? Thank you

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Bother in Islam,

It is permissible for you to adopt the surgery procedure invented by the non-muslim doctor. That is not tashabbuh as the invented procedure is not a salient feature of non-muslims.[1][2]
