Answer

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Sister in Islaam,

We apologize for the belated response. Your love for salaah is praiseworthy. May Allaah Ta’aala bless you and keep you steadfast on His Deen. We pray that Allaah Ta’aala guides your husband.

What do you mean by missing your Fajr prayer? The time for Fajr prayer is till before sunrise. If you mean delaying your Fajr prayer till before sunrise, then you should facilitate him. If you mean making the Fajr salaah qadhaa, i.e. performing it after sunrise, then it is not permissible to obey your husband while forsaking your salaah and making it qadhaa (performing it out of its time).

Rasulullaah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said,

لا طاعة لمخلوق في معصية الله عز وجل[1]

Translation: “There is no obedience to the creation while disobeying Allaah the exalted and magnificent.” (Musnad Ahmad 1095)

Consider performing your Fajr salaah before he wakes up. Also, discuss the importance and virtues of salaah with your husband in a loving and caring manner as well as the virtues of performing salaah in the masjid with congregation. You may refer to Fadhaail-e-Salaah of Shaykhul Hadith Mawlana Zakariyyah Al-Kandahlawi (Rahimahullaah).

You should also recite the following du’aa abundantly:

رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَاجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّاتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍ وَاجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا

Translation: “O our Lord! Bestow upon us from our wives and our offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and make us leaders for the pious.” (Surah Al-Furqaan v.74)

And Allaah Ta’aala Knows Best.
