Answer

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salaamu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullaahi wa-barakaatuh.

Your desire to earn a Halaal income is praiseworthy. May Allaah grant you barakah in all your permissible endeavors. Aameen.

Generally, the plan of a financial planner operating within a conventional and corporate system will be based on interest, insurance, bonds, dividends, etc. all of which are un-Islaamic and haraam. If your financial plan is free of any un-Islaamic factor, then it will be permissible; otherwise, impermissible[1].

Allaah Ta’aala says,

Translation: “And you shall not help one another to sin and to aggression.” (Al-Maaidah v.2)

We are informed that efforts are being made to develop Shari’ah compliant finance products in Canada. Thus, we advise you to consider studying Islaamic economics and finance to serve Deen. Islaamic finance is expanding and there is a great need for professionals who have studied both, the conventional corporate system and the Islaamic corporate system to lead the path.

And Allaah Ta’aala Knows Best.
