Assalam Alikum,
I would like to know if it’s permissible to operate a wedding decoration business targeting mainly to the muslim community?
My friend currently is operating one and would like me to partner with him.
I understand that extravagance is not permissible in Islam and that this business promotes and profits from people who are extravagant during the weddings.
Currently, the business offers; Stage, Hall, Flower, Guest tables and chairs decorations/rentals.

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
There are two issues in this query:
1) Hiring a hall for weddings with the basic requirements, stage, tables and chairs.
2) Extravagance in a wedding.
In general extravagance is haram. Allah Ta’ala says :
إن المبذرين كانوا إخوان الشياطين وكان الشيطان لربه .(Verse: 17:27)
Translation: Squanderers (the extravagant) are brothers of Shaytaan, and the Shaytaan is very ungrateful to his Lord.
ولا تسرفوا إنه لا يحب المسرفين.(Verse: 7:31)
Translation: Eat and drink and do not be extravagant. Surely, He does not like the extravagant.
In the enquired situation, you will be hiring the hall and providing basic requirements for the hall, tables, chairs, stage etc. That is permissible. The income from that source is halaal.
If people are extravagant in their marriages, that is their sin. That does not affect your income from providing the hall and its requirements from being halaal.
