Can children watch Disney?

Is it allowed for kids to watch cartoon like  Disney mickey mouse and for adults to watch like scooby doo or Animations like pokemon,Naruto, Dragon ball etc

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullāhi wa barakātuh.

The cartoons in reference are not permissible as music is played in the background. Playing and listening to musical instruments are categorically harām.[1]

Such cartoons desensitise children to un-Islamic practices, like intermingling of men and women, dressing inappropriately, listening to music, spending life in play and jest, and so on. The morality that is portrayed to a child at this early stage profoundly affects his or her thinking for the remainder of their life. It is the parents’ duty to safeguard their children from such negative influences.

Moreover, a large amount of the precious time of child’s life is wasted in watching cartoons and engaging in idle talk about them.

This time, instead, should be spent in useful activities that will shape a child’s life for the better.  A child should be taught to engage in good and wholesome sports, like swimming, cycling and racing, which have a positive impact on his health and wellbeing. Moreover, parents should read to children the stories of the prophets, sahābah and righteous, which will instil in them love of dīn, piety and the righteous predecessors. Their upbringing should be in an environment that fosters a strong consciousness of dīn. Play and fun of a halāl nature should only be facilitated in this backdrop in order that they do not become the focus of child’s life and his thinking.
