Question:
Assalamualaikum
I heard that if anyone memorizes, teaches 40 Ahaadith and practices upon them, on the Day of judgement he will be resurrected as a scholar. Could you please verify it?

Answer:
Rasoolullah (S.A.W.) mentioned: “Whoever will preserve for my Ummah forty Ahaadith concerning important matters of their faith, Allah Ta’ala will raise him on the Day of Judgment as a Faqeeh (scholar) and I will intercede on his behalf and stand witness in his favour.” Majority of the Muhadditheen are of the opinion that the words “preserve for my Ummah” means to pass on forty Ahaadith to others even though that person has not memorized it. (Mishkaat Vol. 1, Page 36, Mazaahir ul Haqq, Vol.1, Page 263)
