Q: Is the ruling on cannabis (drug) same as alcohol?
A: Cannabis (marijuana etc.) is an intoxicant and has the same ruling as wine and alcohol as far as prohibition goes. Both are haraam and non-permissible. There is a hadith in Tirmizhi which states that Rasoolullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) prohibited every intoxicating substance. Therefore, cannabis is also haraam.
