Is it true that in the Hanafi Fiqh, that 3 takbirs are performed in the first and second rakat of Salatul Eid? If this is accurate, what is the daleel for it. I looked in the Hanafi Fiqh book ‘fathu-qadeer’ by Ibn Hamaam but could not find anything there.
Al-Salam alaykum
Sa`id ibn al-As asked Abu Musa al-Ash`ari and Hudhayfa ibn al-Yaman about how Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam used to recite the takbirs in the salah of Id al-Fitr and Id al-Adha. Abu Musa replied : “He used to recite 4 takbirs* like the takbirs in Janaza Salah.” At this Hudhayfa said: “He is correct!” …
(Sunan Abi Dawud Hadith No. 1153)
* 4 takbirs means the Takbir Tahrima and 3 extra takbirs like in Janaza Salah.
Furthermore the reciting of 3 extra takbirs in each rak`ah of the `Id salah was also the view of the following Sahaba :
ibn Mas`ud, `Umar, `Uqba ibn `Amir, `Abdullah ibn Zubayr, Abu Hurayrah, Abu Mas`ud al-Ansari, Abu Sa`id al-Khudri, Bara’ ibn `Azib and ibn Abbas radiyallahu anhum. Hasan al-Basri, ibn Sirin and Sufyanal-Thawri from the Tabi`in were also of the same opinion. (al-Tahtawi ala Maraqi al-Falah)
