References for method of performing salah in Hanafi madhab

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Abdurrahman ibn Yusuf Mangera

Performing salah: I have come across hadiths (referenced by other madhabs) and even started to pray with such mannerism but was advised that it is improper to pick and choose from across different schools of thought to suite ones needs. As a consequence I am performing salah in the hanafi method but do not know of any reference for what I am doing other than what I have been taught.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Assalamu alaykum

In the name of Allah, the Inspirer of truth.

There are few books on the Hanafi method of performing salat and their evidences. The following two works provide comprehensive coverage on most aspects of the prayer:

1. The Salah of the Believer in the Qur’an and Sunna by Shaykh Riyad al-Haq

2. The Way the Noble Messenger Offered His Prayer by Mufti Jamil Ahmad Naziri.

There is also Fiqh al-Imam which deals in depth mainly on the hanafi evidences on those aspects of prayer that have some difference of opinion about them. These books are available in the USA at http://www.al-rashad.com/books/fiqh.htm and in the UK at www.azharacademy.com

Wassalam

Abdurrahman
