Marriage of a christian woman who has accepted Islam

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Jamia Binoria
A christian woman has accepted Islam. She is also married. Does she have to be separated from her husband or not? Her husband is christian. She wants to marry a muslim man, but perhaps her husband may not want to be separated from her. What is the ruling for this scenario?

الجواب حامدا و مصلیا

If the woman who has accepted Islam in the mentioned scenario resides in a muslim country, then she should present her case in front of a Qazi (Judge), who will then invite her husband to Islam. If he accepts Islam, then their marriage will remain valid, and both of them can continue spending their lives as spouses. If he refuses to accept Islam, then the Qazi will separate them and after the passing of her waiting period, she will be free to marry someone else.
