What should one do if they’re unsure if they performed 3 or 4 Rakats during prayer?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Jamia Binoria
Assalamu Alaikum Mufthi Sahib While we perform Namaz sometimes it does not become sure whether I have performed 3 Raka’aths or 4. Please inform what to do in such a situation? Just by offering Sajde e Sahw will the Namaz be completed although 3 Raka’aaths have been performed while the 4th one is not sure? Jazakallahu Khaira

If this has happened for the first time Salath should be terminated and performed afresh. And if such doubts keep on occurring and there is no probable presumption too, then the less count should be taken it for granted. If in this thought no time lapsed to the extent of performing a smaller Rukn, Sajda e Sahw too is not necessary otherwise it becomes necessary.
