Is It Permissible for a Bride To Have a Trail on Her Dress?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Question:

Is it permissible for a bride to have a trail on her dress? Or would that be under the prohibited isbaal?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

There are narrations that prohibit Isball. Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The part of an Izar which hangs below the ankles is in the Fire.”1 However the prohibition is specific to males. Mulla Ali Al Qaree states: “There is the consensus of the permissibility of Isbaal for Women”.2 Thus the use of such a dress is permissible.

Only Allah knows best
