Saaiduna Bilal Radiallahu Anhu is a famous sahaba who accepted Islam in Makkah. When he accepted Islam, the non-believers placed great difficulties upon him. He was from Abyssinia and this is why he is known as Habshi. He was a slave of a woman in Makkah. The disbelievers prosecuted him severely. When Saaiduna Abu Bakr Radiallahu Anhu saw his anguish, which he underwent at the hands of the disbelievers, he bought him and set him free.
