How Did Hadrat Fatima RA Pass Away

Answered by: Maulana Muhammad Asadullah Anwar Adam

Question

Can I get to know how Hazrat Fatima died because it makes me confusing like according to Shia it’s something else however according to Sunnis is different?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

Hazrat Fatimah (r.a) died of natural causes and of grief over her father’s death 6 months after the death of the Prophet (S.A.W). [1]

The Shia like to slander Sahabah (r.a) who took leadership before Ali (r.a) so they make up the claim that she was oppressed and murdered by Umar (r.a).

In general when it comes to the history of the Sahabah (r.a) its best to ignore what the Shia say because the Sahabah (r.a) were the most virtuous of Muslims who were the closest to the Prophet (ﷺ) and if they were as evil as the Shia claim they are, they never would have been Sahabah (r.a) to begin with.

An example of the Sahabahs virtue can be found in the following hadith: “The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Do not abuse my companions for if any one of you spent gold equal to the mountain of Uhud (in Allah’s cause) it would not be equal to a Mud (Roughly 2 handfuls) or even a half Mud spent by one of them.” [2]
