Question:
Assalamualaikum,
My father passed away and has left behind the following family members, can you please confirm the inheritance % entitlement split amongst us according to the Hanafi fiqh, Jazak Allah Khair.
1 x wife
4 x sons
1 x daughter
5 x paternal grandson
3 x paternal granddaughter

Answer:
The distribution will be as follows:-
Widow- 9/72 shares or 12.5%.
Daughter- 7/72 shares 9.723%.
Four Sons- Each son will receive 14/72 shares or 19.444%.
The grandchildren won’t receive anything due to the presence of a son above them in the line of relationship to the deceased [1]
Total= 9+7+56 (14×4) = 72 shares total.
