Istikhaara for Potential New Property

Question

Salaam

I have been doing istikhara for three nights to have guidance on a potential new property with my husband.

The first two nights I’ve had dreams where I go about my normal day. To be honest, I can’t really remember those. However, on the third night, I had a nightmare I was committing Zina and all sorts of sexual weird dreams. Please note I had this dream after waking up in the middle of the night after having the ‘normal’ dream, going to the loo and then coming back to sleep.

I want to know if this dream is from Shaitan or if it affects my istikhara guidance in any way. I wouldn’t have thought these sorts of dreams are from Allah but Shaitan messing with my head.

I would appreciate your help.

Answer:

When one does istikhaarah, it is not necessary for one to receive a positive or negative sign through a dream or other means. When we pray istikhaarah, we are simply asking Allah Ta’ala to decree that which is best for our World and Hereafter and thereafter bless us in it. In other words, we are asking Allah Ta’ala to bless the decision we will make and if it will prove to be harmful to us, then remove it from us. Therefore, after making istikhaarah, one should act upon that which one’s hearts feels more inclined towards with full conviction and trust upon Allah Ta’aala. It should be kept in mind also, that we do not do that which Allah Ta’aala himself has forbidden.
