Salaat during/after sunrise

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

As salamu alaykum respected Mufti Is there one of four schools that permit to pray fajr ou qadha salat during the sunrise (shurooq) / is there a school to pray during this forbidden time, can you give the official reference, majority, allowed of each school if possible, possibly if there is a derogation or not?

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

It is essential that we only follow one Madhab, and we do not choose and pick. Otherwise, in the name of following another Madhab, we will end up following our own desires and comfort.

A Muslim should endevour to pray each prayer within its time. Allah Ta’ala says,

إِنَّ الصَّلَاةَ كَانَتْ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ كِتَابًا مَوْقُوتًا {النساء:103}

“Verily prayers have been stipulated at appointed times.” (Surah an-Nisa, 103)

Thus, it is compulsory to pray Fajr before sunrise.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best

Wassalaam,

Ismail Moosa (Mufti)
