Salutations (durud) two hundred times on Friday

Question

Please verify the authenticity of this Hadith:

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Whoever recites salutations (durud) two hundred (200) times on the day of Jumu’ah, his sins of two hundred (200) years will be forgiven.”

Answer

This narration is recorded in Musnadul Firdaws on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Musnadul Firdaws; Refer: Kanzul ‘Ummal, Hadith: 2241)

However, ‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) has dismissed the authenticity of the Hadith (أخرجه الديلمي ولا يصح). ‘Allamah Ibn Hajar Al Haytami (rahimahullah) has also dismissed the authenticity.

(Al Qawlul Badi’, pg. 395, Ad Durrul Mandud, pg. 212)

There are authentic Hadiths which encourage abundant salutations on Friday. These should be quoted instead. See here.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
