What is the source of this narration?
قال النبي (صلى الله عليه وسلم): إنكم في زمان ألهمتم فيه العمل وسيأتي قوم يلهمون الجدل
Answer
‘Allamah Subki (rahimahullah) and ‘Allamah ‘Iraqi (rahimahullah) have stated that they have not come across any basis for this narration.
(Tabaqatush Shafi’iyyah, vol. 6 pg. 288 and Al Mughni ‘An Hamlil Asfar, Hadith: 111)
Mulla ‘Ali Al Qari (rahimahullah) has cited this narration in his books on fabricated Hadiths and has quoted ‘Allamah ‘Iraqi’s verdict.

Translation
Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) [allegedly] said: “You [O Sahabah] are in a time wherein you are inspired to practise and carry out good deeds. Soon people will come who will be inspired to only argue and quarrel.”
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
