Another version of the Hadith regarding the reward of visiting the sick

Question

Can you mention the source of this Hadith?

‘Whoever comes to visit his Muslim brother (when he is sick), he is walking among the harvest of Jannah (Paradise) until he sits, then when he sits he is showered with mercy. If it is in the morning, seventy thousand angels will send blessing upon him until the evening, and if it is in the evening, seventy thousand angels will send blessing upon him until the morning.”

Answer

Imam Ibn Majah (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

Sayyiduna ‘Ali (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that he heard Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) say: “Whomsoever visits his ill Muslim brother, is walking among the harvest of Jannah until he sits. Once he sits, mercy envelopes him. [If he visits] in the morning, seventy thousand angels make du’a of forgiveness for him till the evening. If it is in the evening, seventy thousand angels make du’a of forgiveness for him till the morning.”

(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 1442)

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded the Hadith with slight variation in the wording. See here

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
