Another version of the Hadith on visiting one’s parent’s grave and reciting Surah Yasin

Question

Is this Hadith authentic?

Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddique (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“The person who visits the graves of both his parents, or one of them, and he recites Surah Yasin at the graveside (of one) or at both of them, they will be forgiven.”

Answer

This narration has appeared in certain primary and non primary sources.

(Refer: At Tadwin Fi Akhbari Qazwin, vol. 3 pg. 37)

The version in question does not specify any day.

We have answered a query regarding the Hadith which specifies that this be done on a Friday. The problematic narrator appears in both these versions. Therefore, the narration in question is also unreliable. See here.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
