Does one received the reward of Salaam by saying or typing “Salaam or “Slms”?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by TheMufti.com

Q. I wanted to know if it is permissible to make Salaams with the words “Slms” or “Salaams”?

A. It is permissible to make Salaam with the words “Salaam” or “Slms”.

However, in doing so, one will be deprived of the reward of acting on the Sunnah of Salaam. (Fataawa Raheemiyyah)

Therefore, an endeavor should be made to make Salaam according to Sunnah method with the words, “Assalaamualaikum”, or ‘Assalaamualaikum Warahmatullah”, or Assalaamulaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakaatuh” to earn the reward of Salaam.
