Dealing with one’s arrogant step daughter

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I want to know about how my dealings should be towards my step daughters. My husband has 3 daughters from his deceased wife. They are all grown up adult girls. 2 of them are married and the last one is also grown up. It would have been easier and I have tried it but the last daughter has got an arrogant and negative attitude sometimes. What should I do?

Bismillaah

A: It is not appropriate that you treat her harshly. Just correct her respectfully, with love and kindness. If she listens, very good, otherwise don’t pursue the matter.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
