When a Muslim sets out to visit his brother, 70 000 angels accompany him

Is this narration authentic?

إن المسلم إذا زار أخاه المسلم شيعه سبعون ألف ملك يصلون عليه يقولون: اللهم، كما وصله فيك فصله

Answer

Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Razin Al ‘Uqayli Laqit ibn ‘Amir (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 8316)

‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has declared one of the narrators extremely weak.

(Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 8 pg. 173)

However,it should be noted that 70 000 angels making du’a of forgiveness for a person who visits the sick, has been reported in other reliable narrations. See here.

Translation

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “When a Muslim visits his Muslim brother, seventy thousand (70 000) angels accompany him saying, ‘O Allah! Just as he is joining ties [with his Muslim brother] for Your sake, you [be pleased] with him.’”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
