What is the translation of the following part of the Hadith?
من دعا إلى الجمل الأحمر
أن رجلا نشد في المسجد فقال من دعا إلى الجمل الأحمر فقال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم لا وجدت إنما بنيت المساجد لما بنيت له
Answer
The translation is as follows:
“Has anyone found a red camel?”
(Refer: Hashiyatus Sindhi ‘Ala Sunan Ibn Majah)
Sayyiduna Buraydah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) relates, “A man once announced for his lost item in the Masjid. He called out ‘Has anyone found a red camel?’ Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, ‘May you not find it, The Masajid are only built for the purpose they are built for [i.e. ‘ibadah/knowledge etc.].’”
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 569)
