Why is the last row preferred in the janazah salah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

What is the proof that the best saffs in janazah salah are the last saff?

Answer

I haven’t seen any Hadith explaining this.

The Fuqaha (Jurists) have explained one reason to be that since more rows in salatul Janazah is desirable, and actually more beneficial for the deceased, the one who stands in the last row will be contributing to this in a manner in which those in the front row cannot. Therefore the last row is considered better in this case.
