A narration regarding the incident of Hudaybiyyah

Is the following Hadith authentic?

‘Umar ibn Al Khattab said to Abu Jandal (radiyallahu ‘anhu):

“For verily they are Mushrikun (polytheist), and the blood of one of them is like the blood of a dog”

Answer

This is part of a lengthy narration recorded several Hadith collections. The words in question are recorded in Musnad Ahmad with a suitable chain. Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) has also cited this in Fathul Bari under the commentary of a similar Hadith.

(Musnad Ahmad, vol. 4 pg. 325, Fathul Bari, Hadith: 2731-2733, Vol. 5 pg. 345)

The narration is regarding the incident of Hudaybiyyah. Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu) uttered this to console Sayyiduna Abu Jandal, who was being persecuted mercilessly by the Mushrikun.

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
