Do not backbite the Muslims and do not search for their faults

Please provide the reference for this narration:

“O those who have accepted Islam with their tongues while Iman has not entered their hearts! Do not backbite the Muslims and do not search for their faults, for verily the one who searches for their faults, Allah Ta’ala will take him to task for his faults and the one who Allah takes to task, Allah will disgrace him in his home”

Answer

Imam Abu Dawud (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Barzah Al Aslami (radiyallahu ‘anhu).

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 4846)

Imam Tirmidhi, Imam Ibn Hibban and others have also recorded a narration with slight variation in the wording on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2032 and Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 5763)
