What is the Sunnah Qira’ah that the Imam should recite in Jumu’ah Salah?
Answer:
There are three combinations recorded from the Sunnah of Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). One may alternate between them.
1) Surah Jumu’ah (Surah: 62) and Surah Munafiqun (Surah: 63)
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 877)
2) Surah A’ala (Surah: 87) and Surah Ghashiyah (Surah: 88)
(Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 878)
3) Surah Jumu’ah (Surah: 62) and Surah Ghashiyah (Surah: 88)
(Sahih Muslim: Hadith: 878)
It is Sunnah and ideal to recite these Surahs completely in each rak’ah, instead of splitting one surah over two rak’ahs.
