An alleged virtue of a tolerant person

What is status of following narration?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said, “The tolerant person was almost a Nabi”

Answer

I have come across the following versions:

1) These words are part of a lengthy narration which is known as ‘Hadithud Dabb’ recorded by Imam Tabarani (rahimahullah) and other Muhaddithun.

(Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 5993 and Al Mu’jamus Saghir, Hadith: 948)

Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahullah) has expressed reservation regarding the authenticity of this lengthy Hadith and ‘Allamah Dhahabi (rahimahullah) has declared the Hadith a fabrication (batil).

(Mizanul I’tidal, vol. 4 pg. 210, number: 7506)

2) Hafiz Khatib Baghdadi (rahimahullah) has also recorded these words with a weak chain. ‘Allamah Ibnul Jawzi and Hafiz Dhahabi (rahimahumallah) have expressed reservation regarding the authenticity of this version.

(Tarikh Baghdad, vol. 3 pg. 249, Al ‘Ilalul Mutanahiyah, vol. 2 pg. 733 and Talkhis of Al ‘Ilal Al Mutanahiyah, Hadith: 773, Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 6198)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
