Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) requests ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) to recite Quran

Please cite the source and authenticity of the narration wherein Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) requested Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) to recite Quran.

Answer

Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim (rahimahumallah) have recorded this narration. The Hadith is therefore authentic.

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (radiyallahu ‘anhu) recited Surah An Nisa. When he recited Verse 41, Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) began to weep and asked him to stop.

(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 4582-5049-5050-5055 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 800)

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
