Does Using a Dildo Take Away One’s Virginity?

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Ustadha Shazia Ahmad

Question

I know masturbation is haram. However, all the discourse on sex toys only mentions non-penetrative ones like a vibrator. So, are dildos before marriage the equivalent of actual Zina (fornication)? Does it take away virginity?

Answer

Thank you for your question.

Virginity

Using dildos does not take away virginity.

Masturbation

Masturbation is haram as well as the use of sex toys for the purpose of masturbation.
