Is It Permissible for a Woman To Wear a Ring in Public if It Is Discreet?

Question: I wear the hijab and dress modestly outside. I would like to know if wearing a ring in public is permissible, including a  discreet ring? 

Answer:

Assalamu alaykum,

Thank you for your question. May Allah reward you for being modest and for putting Allah’s pleasure first in the way that you dress.

It is permissible to wear a thin, discreet ring, even when you dress modestly. The upshot is that you choose a type of ring customarily worn by religious women in your land and does not attract undue attention. See the principles here:
