Is it permissible for men to shave their heads if it is for comfort and ease?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious the Most Merciful, and may His Peace and Blessings be upon His messenger and slave Muhammad the noblest of creation.

Yes it is permissible to shave ones whole head even if it is for convenience sake.

Imam Al Ghazali (Allah be pleased with him) said that there is nothing wrong if one shaves ones head in order to keep it clean, and there is no wrong in leaving it either for the one who wants to oil it and comb it.

The evidence for this is the hadeeth related by Ibn ‘Umr (May Allah be pleased with the two of them) that the Prophet (Allah’s Pease and Blessings upon him) saw a boy who had shaved part of his head and left the other. The Prophet forbade him to do that and said: “Shave it all or leave it all.” [Abu Dawud]

It is important to bear in mind that when shaving the head one should remember to avoid two things:

1.’al qaz’ (leaving a part of the hair and shaving a part of it). This is offensive in the shari’ah because of the hadeeth in Bukhar related by ibn ‘Umar, that the Prophet prohibited al qaz’, and

2.imitating people of other religions and the fussaq of our own by it. The Prophet said: “Who so ever imitates a people, he will be considered to be from them” Abu Dawud.

And Allah knows best.
