Is it permissible for one to eat silver?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Answer

It is permissible to eat silver for a purpose that is of legal consideration, such as medication, whether it is silver by itself or whether it is combined with something else. As for eating it other than such purpose, this is unlawful, for it is a waste of wealth. This is found in the Tuhfa (1/123).

السؤال : هل يجوز للشخص أن يأكل الفضة ؟

الجواب : يجوزُ أكلُ الفضة إن كان لغرضٍ معتبرٍ كالتداوي بها سواء كانت منفردةً أم منضمةً إلى غيرها ، أما أكلها لغير غرضٍ معتبرٍ فحرامٌ ؛ لما فيه من إضاعة المال .
قال الشِّرْواني في حاشية “التحفة” (1/123) :” ( فرع ) وقع السؤالُ عن دق الذهب والفضة وأكلهما منفردين أو مع انضمامها لغيرهما من الأدوية هل يجوز ذلك كغيره من سائر الأدوية أم لا يجوز لما فيه من إضاعة المال ؟ والجواب : أن الظاهر أن يُقال فيه أن الجواز لا شكَّ فيه حيث ترتب عليه نفع وكذا إن لم يحصل منه =
