Defending Al-Aqsa Mosque is a Religious Obligation

Answered as per Shafi'i Fiqh by Darul Iftaa Jordan
What should be done to end the Israeli practices which aim at judaizing Al-Aqsa Mosque, Al-Haram Al-Ibrahimi(The Sanctuary of Ibraham), Bilal`s Mosque and annexing them to the Israeli heritage "As they claim"?

Answer:
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of The Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon Prophet Mohammad and upon all his family and companions: Al-Aqsa Mosque and the other Islamic places of Palestine are an integral part of the Muslim`s faith, history, and culture and it is impermissible to violate their sanctity no matter what. This is due to the fact that Al-Aqsa Mosque is Muslims` first Qibla(The direction towards which a Muslim offers his prayer), the second mosque built on earth after the Sacred Mosque, the third of the two Holy Harams as regards its sanctity, the love of Muslims` hearts and the place where one prayer equals five hundred prayers. Prophet Mohammad(PBUH) said, “Do not set out on a journey except for three Mosques i.e. Al-Masjid-AI-Haram, the Mosque of Allah's Apostle , and the Mosque of Al-Aqsa, (Mosque of Jerusalem)”{Bukhari&Muslim}. It is the duty of every Muslim to protect Al-Aqsa Mosque against the Israeli violations. In this regard, the history of the Hashemite family is pregnant with achievements, namely their efforts in restoring and protecting Al-Aqsa Mosque, derived from their spiritual and historical responsibility that they have inherited in their capacity as the grandchildren of Prophet Mohammad(PBUH). Nowadays, His Majesty King Abdullah the 2nd is doing his best to defend Al-Aqsa Mosque and its people.
