Who built Al Aqsa mosque?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

If the Prophet (Peace be upon him) travelled to the mosque during al isra wa al mi’raj, who built it? It could not have been standing there. Someone should have built it.

Answer

According to some narrations, the foundation of Musjidul Aqsa was laid by one of the sons of Hadhrat Aadam (Alayhis Salaam). According to other narrations it was laid by Aadam (Alayhis Salaam) himself. (Mirqaat vol.1 pg. 229 Multan). It was later reconstructed by Hadhrat Sulaiman (Alayhis Salaam).
