Is there any basis to keep one’s children indoors at Maghrib time?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by TheMufti.com

Q. Is there any basis to keep one’s children indoors at Maghrib time?

A. There are numerous Ahadith which state that children should not be kept outside at/around nightfall/sunset time.

Sayyiduna Jaabir Bin Abdullah Radhiyallahu Anhu reports that Rasoolullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam said: “When night falls or it is evening, keep your children close to you for the devils spread out at that time. After a period of the night elapses, you can let them free. Close the doors and mention the Name of Allah, for the devil does not open a closed door.” (Bukhari)
