Question
Please tell me what is the Islamic ruling as well as some explanation regarding someone who has plenty of debts to be paid yet he lives his life beyond comfortable living and also spends his wealth lavishly?
Answer
It has come in a Hadeeth of Bukhari shareef
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم : مَطْلُ الْغَنِيِّ ظُلْم
“The procrastination/delaying of payment (in repayment of a debt) by a person who has the money is a form of oppression”.
There is no guarantee whether or not a person will live another moment, if Allah forbid someone passes away before paying off debts, one will face a severe accountability in the hereafter, because this is to do with the rights of the fellow human being,
There is nothing wrong with living life comfortably but if one is extravagant in spending he will be accountable on the Day of Judgment in front of Allah Ta’ala as the wealth was given to him as a trust.
