Reciting the Kalima at a Nikaah ceromony

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question

Some Muslims recite the Kalima at the nikaah ceremony – is this allowed?

Answer

This is not required by shariah, however in some cultures it is done to check that the groom IS a proper Muslim. We can’t class it haraam.
