Turning phone off in salah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question

If your phone goes off in namaaz, should you put your hand in pocket and turn it off, if it’s hard to put it off while in pocket can you take it out of pocket and look at it and put it off

Answer

Try to turn it off with the minimal amount of action possible (maybe by using one hand only). Excessive action in turning one’s phone off would nullify the salah, hence it would not be correct to take the phone out of one’s pocket, look at it and then turn it off. However, you should ensure your phone is switched off or on silent before entering the masjid and become accustomed to this practice, in order to avoid such situations.
