I need to have hysterectomy, do I need to pray when I am bleeding from my hysterectomy?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Tafseer Raheemi

Question

Salaam,

I am 40 years old and I need to have hysterectomy (having my womb removed) for medical reasons. My question is do I need to pray when I am bleeding from my hysterectomy. Would that be period blood or blood from wound. If yes then how do I pray cause I won’t I will be bleeding for 6-8 weeks thats how long it takes to recover.

Answer

This is a type of internal injury, therefore, the bleeding is Istihaaza, you would be considered paak thus you would have to keep praying. However During your normal period ays, you will be considered on Haiz. So avoid Salah during those days.
